Puppy Training

We have been around and working with Dogs for a long time but will hopefully never fail to react to a cute Puppy.

But as Behavioural Trainers we get a lot of our work from people whose dogs did not suit or benefit from traditional puppy classes or those who have been lured into the cute world of a Puppy without appreciating the challenges, time and work involved with living with a growing and developing intelligent animal that has a unique personality and character .

The cute young female Dogue de Bordeaux in the photo grew into the bossiest of the bossy and if it hadn’t been for our involvement with her Training  as a puppy, she would have had a different life story (or an army of loyal slaves, not sure which!)

So, how can we help? We have adapted our Behavioural training and experience of resolving issues in older dogs into a Puppy Package designed to PREVENT issues from happening in the first place.

This can start with helping you in selecting a puppy that is a good fit for your home. As we write this, Rescue centres are filling up with unwanted adult and teenage Huskies and similar breeds, who were bought as a result of a popular TV show. Huskies are a wonderful breed but any prospective owner needs to understand what challenges they are taking on. Sadly for the dogs, it would appear far too many didn’t do any research.

Once you have your cute ball of fur it is vital that we take advantage of the receptive early months so we help you establish communication and an understanding with each other. This is broken down into 3 manageable 2 hour sessions based on the dogs age. As well as the basics of training attentiveness and recall, we cover all things Dog! Including: Attentiveness; canine body language; communication; basic obedience training and the importance of food and its direct link with Behavioural problems. Of course there is a lot of fun too, because adding a dog to your family/pack should be a pleasurable experience.

To be honest, it would be misleading for us to publish a strict timetable as Dogs are rubbish at sticking to them! Each dog is individual, there is no such thing as breed specific behaviour, so we adapt the training to suit the dog and you rather than try to make you and the dog fit the training! With dogs the “One size fits all” approach does NOT work.

If you want a dog that is to become part of your family then please give us a call, for a relatively small investment you will build a solid foundation for your future together.
