Hi there! Thank you for taking an interest in DogsInSight, our website and, more importantly, helping your dogs!

This is our first Blog (who came up with that name?, the more I say it the weirder it sounds) and we hope that you find this and future Blogs a little bit different and thought provoking.

“Why is that?” I hear you ask

Well our intention is to try and entertain and offer advice but also to try and make you think about the subject of Dog Training in a different way.

In fact lets start straight away and actually look at the phrase that is: “Dog Training”

Seems simple enough: Dog needs training; Owner does lots of research and soul searching; Owner finds Trainer (I hear DogsInSight are very good, by the way!) Dog meets Trainer; Trainer trains Dog; The End.

What is missing?…the part that the 2 legged members of the family/pack have to play, THAT  is what is missing. If you wanted to form a band with your family eg a new Jackson 5 or Osmonds, you would not get many fans if only the Lead singer had lessons. You would have one member expecting things to be done in a certain way in front of a bunch of individuals all with their own idea about how it should be done and everyone doing their own thing! Not a foundation for future harmony!

“Dog Training” implies that it is all about the dogs, that is a mistake. As Professor Adam Miklosi ( World renowned expert in Canine cognition) puts it:

“dog training….should be about synchronization of the behaviour of dog and owner”

Helping people understand their dogs and helping dogs understand their humans is what we do with much success.

Future Blogs will cover some of the most popular Dog related topics/ myths and Old Wives Tales we are asked about as well as the genuine stories of  Canine  issues where we have had the genuine pleasure of helping people and dogs make the necessary changes in order to find a solution.
